Lighting Designer / Director / Programmer
Shaheem was raised in the Queens borough of New York City. His career started when he became an unofficial intern for the head electrician, at The World Famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. A year and a half after his internship began, he became a part of the Apollo stage crew. He then went on tour as an electrician, all while focusing on continuous learning. Shaheem got his first taste of live music touring when he was asked to fill in for his mentor. That was the moment he turned his sights to the designing and programming side of the industry.
Shaheem is a driven entrepreneur. From his first tour in 2010 with Brian McKnight, who he has continued to work with throughout his career, has gained notoriety with multiple artists. He has been the Lighting Designer for A$AP Rocky, the Lighting Director and Co-Programmer for G-Eazy, and the Lighting Director for the J’Lo 50th Birthday Tour. That tour earned him a Parnelli Awards nomination for the 2019 Lighting Director of the Year. He has also made strides within television as NBC’s Main Studio Daytime Programmer for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, as well as the Main Studio PrimeTime Programmer for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
Shaheem moved to Los Angeles in 2017, which expanded his reach within the industry. Although the artists and tours listed above do not sum up his accomplishments and accolades, they do touch on several major ones. He has made a name for himself and placed his mark in the entertainment business. Shaheem has an unparalleled energy and precision for design where he thrives on being creative and thinking outside of the box. Building the visual elements behind the music is not just his career; it's his passion.
